Shivat HaMinim Salad


This colorful recipe featuring the Seven Species, Shivat HaMinim, is perfect for Tu B'Shevat!

All of the ingredients are from Deuteronomy 8:8. This verse explains the food that God gives the Israelites when they enter into the land of Israel. All Seven Species are plants and the Israelites are told that they will not lack anything. The Shivat HaMinim are: wheat, barley, grape, fig, pomegranate, olive, and date (honey). This echoes the message we have learned time and time again in Judaism: Eat plants!

Simple, healthy, and delicious, you can make your Tu B'Shevat seder stand out by taking 7 species that are stars on their own, and combining them to take it to the next level.

olive oil
2 cups
date syrup
1 bunch
mint leaves (chopped)
