Based on the prohibition of tsa'ar ba'alei chayim, Rabbi
Haim Dovid Halevy, Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv issued a p'sak in March,
1992, prohibiting the manufacturing and wearing of fur. He based his decision
on an extensive research of the Torah, the Talmud, and other authoritative texts.
